The Duchess is shown one of the rarest items from the university's special collection, the Aberdeen Bestiary, an exquisite illuminated manuscript which was once owned by The Royal Collection. This manuscript describes a medieval understanding of the natural world including birds and beasts, mythical and true, and is a celebration of the extraordinary artistry and craftsmanship of the age.

The Duchess is the 11th Chancellor and first ever woman of the university and is making her second visit since taking on the role in 2013.
