Amanda de Cadenet: To every person who has mothered another , at any point ( you know who you are in my life ) And all the mothers who show up and choose their kids well being before many of their own desires. I thank you . To know who someone truly is , look no further than their kids . We used to have community , with elders and sisters raising children , but now more than ever many are doing it alone . Never am I more in awe than when I see women I know and those I don't, making seemingly impossible choices because that is what their kids need .And thanks to all 3 of my amazing kids who have challenged me in so many ways to be the best person I can be ONLY because of my desire to be a mindful mom for them ..🙋💗💕🌸

Busy Philipps: Growing up, My mom worked but she always tried to do special stuff with us, like she was the leader of our Girl Scout troops and she volunteered at school when she could. She did all the traditional "mom" stuff like bake and do crafts and sew things and taught me how to make cakes and crochet but she also sometimes just would pick up fast food for dinner cause she couldn't be bothered(and she worked). When girls were being mean to me in 5th grade, my mom let me stay home one day and she took me to the movies. My mom liked to play music super loud at school drop off and dance in her car to embarrass me. When people would ask what my "safety net" for being an actress was, my mom would say confidently "Busy doesn't need a safety net. She's going to succeed." She scratched my back and sang to me before bed until I was way too old for that to be something your mom does. She let me call her Barb, even though it drove her nuts. I have told my mom I hated her a million times over the years. Mostly, when I was being a jerk but truthfully, sometimes when she was. It took me being a mom to really understand how hard what she did was and how little credit I gave her growing up(and even into my twenties). Because I am SO so lucky to have a mom that was engaged and present and trying her fucking best to do it all. Happy Mothers Day to ALL the moms out there. But especially my mom. Who is the best and I love her so so much. (And this blurry pic is my mom crying at my Christmas present to her, which was a manatee that artist Claire Crespo made(cause manatees are her spirit animal) and when she opened it, she was dressed like the manatee and she started laughing& crying)

I could see the legacy of service in the eyes of veterans like him, and decided to enlist. During my career in the Army, I deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. I came home with a Purple Heart and a love of culture and language. With my enlistment over, I traveled to the Middle East, Africa, and Latin American to see these places – and myself – without war as a backdrop. I found The Mission Continues Fellowship Program.
