Michelle Obama: “It is so important to remember that our diversity has been — and will always be — our greatest source of strength and pride here in the United States.” —The First Lady. I am always grateful to work for the First Lady, someone who enjoys showcasing the diversity of our beautiful country. Mrs. Obama continues to make people feel welcome, valued, and heard. Thank you for this opportunity, Mrs. Obama, and thank you all for following along with our behind-the-scenes look at Nowruz at the @WhiteHouse. Signing off! – Pany

Michelle Obama: Shout out to the incredible @WhiteHouse Social Office team for making today’s Nowruz celebration a success. I am so glad I got to share a piece of my own culture with my colleagues, including my love for Noon-Berenji! – Pany

Michelle Obama: These beautiful dancers joined us at the @WhiteHouse today to help us celebrate Nowruz. The Washington, D.C. based Nomad Dancers, inspired by dance traditions of Iran, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, India, and Turkey, travel across borders to bridge cultures through dance. Our dancers really got the party started – you MAY have caught me doing my own moves backstage. Too much fun! – Pany

Michelle Obama: Spotted: Everyone’s favorite Iranian American comedian @MazJobrani. Maz warmed up the crowd with a few jokes and had the honor of introducing the First Lady today. Thank you, @MazJobrani for representing our community with laughter and heart. – Pany

Michelle Obama: The First Lady’s Haft Seen was set by our very own @WhiteHouse Florist or as I call her...Hedieh joon! From sabzeh (sprouts), symbolizing rebirth, to sib (apples), symbolizing beauty and heath, the Haft Seen table is decorated with at least seven items that symbolize elements of spring and renewal. For our eggs this year, we even included the 2016 White House Easter Egg! – Pany

Michelle Obama: In every home, the Haft Seen table is set up and decorated with at least seven items that symbolize different elements of spring. I grew up helping my parents set our own haft seen and today I am proud to be joined by a few of my fellow Iranian American colleagues who helped make the @WhiteHouse Nowruz celebration possible. – Pany

Michelle Obama: Hi everyone! My name is Pany Faed, Deputy Associate Director in the @WhiteHouse Social Office. Today, I am taking you behind-the-scenes of the First Lady’s Nowruz event at the White House. For those who may not know, Nowruz is a celebration for many around the world – marking the start of spring and beginning of the New Year. As an Iranian American, I grew up cherishing this time of year paying visits to family, spending time outdoors, and eating lots and LOTS of Noon-Berenji (delicious cookies)! Follow along to see how the White House celebrated Nowruz. – Pany
